Concrete Patios
Concrete Patio Installation in Gurnee
Poured patios, walkways and steps across Gurnee and Lake County. Broom, exposed aggregate, colour or stamped, marked out on your grass before a price is agreed. Free on-site estimate.
A patio is the only concrete anyone actually sits on, so it gets judged twice - on how it looks and on whether it is still flat in ten years. The good news is that both come from the same handful of decisions, and all of them are made before the truck turns up.
What we build
- A new patio, sized around the furniture you own rather than a figure guessed from indoors.
- The finish you choose - broom, exposed aggregate, colour or a stamped pattern - costed against each other before you commit.
- Walkways tying the patio back to the drive, the gate and the back step.
- Steps down to the lawn, where the ground drops away from the door.
- Replacement or extension of a patio that has failed or was always slightly too small.
How the job runs
1. Send us the back garden
Under a minute on the form. One or two photographs of the rear of the house are worth more to us than any measurement you could take.
2. We mark it and price it
The outline goes down on the grass, the drainage gets settled there and then, and the itemised figure stays with you.
3. We pour and finish it
Ground made ready, forms set, concrete placed and finished the way you picked, joints cut to the plan. The garden is swept before we leave.
The decisions made before the truck arrives
Everything that determines whether a patio still looks right in a decade is settled while it is an outline on the grass. There are four of them and none takes long.
- Which way the water leaves. A patio has to fall away from the house, and the direction it falls decides where the water ends up: a border, the lawn, or against a neighbour's fence. Agreeing that on the grass takes a minute and is close to unfixable once concrete is down.
- Where the joints land. Concrete is going to crack, and joints decide where. On a patio you can see them, so they get laid out to suit the shape of the slab instead of dropped in at a default spacing.
- How it meets the back door. The drop from the threshold, and the clearance left below it, is the detail most often got wrong and the one you notice every single day.
- What is going on top later. A cover, a hot tub or a built-in grill can change the thickness and sometimes the position, and knowing now costs nothing.
Why it still looks right in ten years
- You choose the size standing in it. One outline pegged on the lawn resolves the size question faster than a drawing ever has.
- Patios rarely need the paperwork a driveway does. A garden slab usually sits clear of the public strip that makes driveway work slow, so a patio is generally the easier of the two to get booked.
- We pour, and nothing else. No pergola, no roof, no built-in kitchen. Tell us early if one is planned, because it changes the slab we lay.
Getting concrete to a back garden
This is what separates two otherwise identical patios, and it is worth thinking about before anybody quotes.
Where a mixer can reach the rear of the property, or a pump can be set up out front, the pour is straightforward. Where a narrow side passage, a gate, a slope or a neighbouring wall rules both out, the material gets moved by barrow, and what that changes is the size of the crew and the length of the day rather than the cost of the concrete.
None of it is a reason not to build. It is a reason for us to walk down the side of your house before writing a figure, and a reason to mention a gate width or a rear access lane when you send the form.
Towns we pour patios in
Gurnee first, then inland to Grayslake and Wadsworth, across to Park City and Waukegan, and north through Beach Park and Zion. A back garden is far less bound up with municipal rules than a driveway is, but access and drainage are particular to each property, and the only way to settle those is to come and look.
The detail, if you want it first
There is no square-foot rate on this page, deliberately. A single headline rate conceals tear-out, access and everything beneath the slab, and that is precisely where two bids differ. What actually moves your price, how the finishes compare, and how a patio measures up against pavers and decking are all set out properly:
- what a concrete patio costs in Lake County, finish by finish, with the comparison against pavers and decking
- what sits underneath any slab price
- concrete against pavers and against a deck
