Concrete Driveways
Concrete Driveway Installation and Replacement in Gurnee
New pours, full replacements and single sections across Gurnee and Lake County. We pull the permit, handle the inspections, and take the old slab away with us. Free on-site estimate, written on the day.
A driveway is the biggest single piece of concrete most people ever buy, and the one that gets the least thought until it starts breaking up. What you are really paying for is the twenty years afterwards when you never have to think about it again.
What we take on
- A complete replacement - the old drive broken out, carried away, and a new one laid on ground put right first.
- A first driveway, over gravel or over nothing.
- The strip at the road, permitted and inspected, built to what the Village asks for rather than to whatever is quickest.
- A single bay taken out and re-laid, when everything around it is still solid.
- More room - a wider drive, a turning space, or a pad for the second vehicle.
Getting it booked
1. Send us the basics
Under a minute on the form below. Measurements are not needed - "it is old and I want rid of it" is a complete brief.
2. We come and price it
We walk the drive with you and write the figure down in front of you, itemised. Nothing to sign while we are standing there.
3. We file, pour and clear up
Permit in, pour booked against weather that will hold, broken concrete gone with us. Keep off it for the week we tell you and you are finished with us.
What the calendar actually looks like
Most of the waiting on a driveway is not the crew, it is the Village. Knowing that stops the schedule feeling arbitrary.
| Stage | Roughly how long |
|---|---|
| Form to on-site estimate | Days, not weeks |
| Application to permit issued | Five to ten working days |
| Breaking out and preparing | Generally the day before |
| Pouring and finishing | One day on a typical drive |
| Inspections | Two, the second closing the permit |
| Before a vehicle goes on it | A date we give you at the estimate |
That five-to-ten-day figure is the Village's published processing window, and its clock starts when a complete application lands rather than when you accept a quote. Hence we file early instead of waiting for a settled forecast.
What sets the bid apart
- We pull the permit and handle the inspections. That ground is the Village's rather than yours, and chasing paperwork is nobody's idea of a week well spent.
- The ground gets sorted before the truck comes. What goes under a drive is invisible the day we leave and decides everything that happens to it afterwards.
- We only pour. A sound slab that has merely dropped can be raised for a fraction of a new pour, and that belongs to a different trade with different kit. We say so on the day rather than afterwards.
What moves the number on your drive
Two drives of the same size can price very differently, and the gap is rarely the concrete itself. What actually moves it:
- What is coming out, and what is beneath it. Breaking up an old slab and hauling it away is real work before any new material is ordered, and the ground underneath is not always what the surface suggested.
- Whether a mixer can reach the pour. A drive that can be discharged onto directly is a different proposition from one barrowed around a corner.
- Where your boundary falls. The strip at the street belongs to the Village, carries its own approach specification, and brings the permit and both inspections with it.
- What the water is doing. Setting the falls so the drive sheds to the road rather than to the garage door is cheap while the ground is open.
- Thickness and reinforcement. A drive that parks a work van and a trailer is not the build that parks two cars.
- Where it sits in the year. Protecting a pour against cold is genuine cost, and a settled stretch avoids paying for it.
Lake County towns we serve
Gurnee is where we are based. From there the work reaches Park City and Waukegan, runs up to Beach Park and Zion, and goes inland to Grayslake and Wadsworth. What changes between them is the rulebook covering the section at the road, so establishing which authority you fall under comes before any figure does.
The full working
If you would rather read the detail before anyone comes out, it is all set out properly - the permit and bonding requirements, what the approach specification actually asks for, the mix and the curing, and how to read one bid against another:
- what a concrete driveway costs in Gurnee, including the permit, the bond and the approach spec
- repair or replace your concrete driveway
- what a replacement costs once tear-out is in the price
- where asphalt beats concrete in Lake County and where it does not
- the apron permit start to finish - bond, timeline and inspections
If the back of the house is part of the same plan, see concrete patio.
